The length of time taken to regen is not a defined time, it very much depends upon how clogged up the DPF is and exhaust temperature (takes longer when weather is cold). 40mph for 10-15 mins is unlikely to fully complete the task and simply leave you with a partial clearance (just enough to fool the flow sensor) which will clog up again even
Driving above 40mph for 30 minutes will perform regeneration in most vehicles. How long does it take for a DPF to block? There is no set time frame as everybody’s driving style is different. However, many short journeys over a few months could trigger the warning indicator. Bottom line
Once hot, stationary regeneration @ 2,200 rpm requires a consistent 16 minutes to complete. Next stationary regeneration, experiment with higher engine rpms. Stationary regeneration fuel cost is only ~~$1.00 Does RK55 manual suggest engine rpms during stationary regeneration?
I do a lot of short journeys and the AA report says the regeneration takes place on motorway trips or longer journeys when exhaust gasses are hotter. Is there any danger of the filter blocking and if I do notice it regenerating i.e smell and fuel consumption would I be advised to take the car for a longer run say 15 minutes to complete the
DPF Regeneration Benefits. While diesel particulate filters are designed to trap waste particles, unburnable as naturally gets collected over time. That causes excess backpressure, leading to DPF downtime and failure as well as reduced fuel economy. The cost of replacing a single DPF can also run to almost $10,000.
Tractor. RK37HC. My RK37HC now has 64 hours on it and I have yet to see a regen request. Several months back I seem to remember someone mentioning that theirs did a regen right at 50 hours when the first service was due. Just curious at what point other RK37 owners are seeing for having to start the regen process.
